New Life for Gaslighter Theater

Real Estate is all about location, location, location. One of the important consideration when buying a home is the neighborhood, the area, amenities, schools, night life, etc. The city of Campbell in Santa Clara County has a charming downtown area with many bars, shops, and restaurants. Soon, Campbell will be opening the doors to one more downtown highlight: the historic Gaslighter Theater. The Gaslighter Theater is the oldest commercial building in the city. Originally, it was built in 1920 for the bank. It was later converted to a movie theatre in 1938. Thirty years later, in the mid-sixties, the building was renovated with a small stage and bar for melodramas. In 2006, the building was closed. Today, the Gaslighter Theater is receiving a new life from Regale Winery. The winery was looking for the perfect location to open a wine bar and lounge in the popular downtown area. Gaslighter provided the ideal opportunity. The bar will have first and second story dining space with a bar as well as a space for retail sales of the winery's bottled wine. The space will hold a maximum capacity of 256 people at any given time and will close at 11:00 p.m. The venue is currently planning to serve beer and wine as well as host various live entertainment bands. This proposal was unanimously approved by the Campbell Planning Commission in February .This is the second wine bar to announce it will be opening in downtown Campbell, the other is planned for location in the former Stone Griffin Gallery spot, next to The Olive Bar. The new wine bar is tentatively scheduled to open later this summer.
